Modalities
I’m a Linehan-board certified DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) clinician and I believe that DBT skills can be helpful to anyone who wants to understand patterns that keep them stuck and apply more effective tools to improve their life. I can help you balance accepting parts of your reality and changing those that are no longer effective for you, and help you build a life worth living.
Mindfulness, which can help you feel grounded, in control of your life and awake to the world around you;
Mindful Self-Compassion, which can help you diminish self blame and judgment, and see that you’re a normal human doing normal human things;
Psychodynamic, which can help you build insight on why you do what you do;
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help you identify and restructure thought patterns that are keeping you stuck,
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which can help you connect with your values and learn strategies to increase acceptance around some of the toughest parts of your life;
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) or Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD, which can help decrease symptoms of trauma.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy (GMCT), which can help you and your partner improve your relationship, and increase sense of connection and intimacy.
Together we will draw on varying strategies to best suit your needs.
About Me
Style
I really believe that sustainable change comes from understanding where your behaviours come from and how your body/mind relates to your environment. When you build that connection, you are able to identify specific strategies and skills to better support you in the life you want to live, solve problems effectively, and improve relationships in ways that you didn’t know how to. I normalize and validate your experiences, and talk about the role that context and culture play in your life. From there, we will work collaboratively to explore what strategies are best for you and your needs. Whatever your goals may be or the type of support you want, I’m here to help you achieve deep healing and personal growth.
Interests
My work experience in both non-profit and private settings have shown me how issues of social justice and oppression have impacted individuals and communities in different ways. It has influenced me to be vigilant and passionate about providing socially just and culturally appropriate care.
My collaborative and creative approach balances processing difficult emotions with building easy, practical strategies to heal and move forward in life, and I feel confident that I can help you feel more whole.
Enough about me, let’s get to know you.
